This course is presented under a partnership arrangement between Cork Institute of Technology
(CIT) and Clonakilty Agricultural College. Student time divided between
the two institutions. The course is HETAC Accredited.
Entry Requirements
- National Certificate in Agriculture
(CAO Code CR010)
- Leaving Certificate requirements
(Leaving Certificate Grade D3 at ordinary or higher level in five subjects including Mathematics, Irish or
English
- Applications must be made through the
CAO.

This third level course provides the
education and training needed by future commercial farmers and
skilled workers in the Agri industry. Graduates completing this
course, can return to their home farms or can aspire to jobs
in
- Farm Management
- Environmental Management and Monitoring
- Agri-industry
- Sales and Marketing
- Quality Control
The course also provides graduates with the necessary knowledge to progress to follow on honours degree courses.
The course is structured to achieve approximately an equal mix of agricultural and business subjects. There is an emphasis on applied work in most subject areas.
HETAC (Level 6) Higher Certificate in Agriculture
is awarded to successful students after 2 years. This certificate qualifies students for Stamp Duty Exemption and Installation Aid. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture is awarded to students who successfully complete the third year.

years The course is
semesterised. There are 6 semesters over 3 years. There are 12 weeks
of contact time per semester, and 2/3 weeks of exams at the end of
